We depart from Huaraz in the morning and travel by private transportation to Chiwipampa (3,400 m / 11,155 ft), the starting point of our hike. The trail gradually ascends through traditional Andean farmland and scenic mountain landscapes, offering magnificent views of the Callejón de Huaylas Valley.
As we continue hiking, the impressive peaks of the Cordillera Blanca begin to dominate the horizon. After approximately two to three hours of walking, we arrive at Wilcacocha Lake (3,750 m / 12,303 ft), a peaceful mountain lake renowned for its spectacular panoramic views and beautiful reflections of the surrounding snow-capped mountains.
We take time to relax, enjoy a packed lunch, photograph the stunning scenery, and appreciate the tranquility of this remarkable location before beginning our descent back to Chiwipampa. After the hike, private transportation returns us to Huaraz in the afternoon.
