Your adventure begins with a morning departure from Huaraz, driving north through picturesque Andean landscapes to the historic area of Honcopampa. After meeting the muleteers and preparing the trekking equipment, the hike starts along the peaceful Akilpo Valley.

The trail follows a gentle mountain river through native forests and open grasslands, gradually climbing toward higher elevations. As the valley widens, spectacular views of the surrounding peaks begin to emerge before reaching Pomabamba Camp, your first campsite in the heart of the Cordillera Blanca.

From the summit, enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of Tocllaraju, Palcaraju, Ranrapalca, Copa, Huascarán, Hualcán, and numerous glacial lakes stretching across both the Akilpo and Ishinca valleys.
