The journey begins with an early departure from Huaraz, traveling through the southern highlands of Ancash, passing Recuay, Cátac, and Conococha before reaching Chiquián, the gateway to the Cordillera Huayhuash.
The route continues through Llamac and Pocpa, where the trekking crew and pack animals are organized. From here, the drive ascends into the high Andes toward Cuartelhuain, surrounded by remote mountain scenery and the first views of the Huayhuash range.
Day 2: Cuartelhuain – Cacanan Punta Pass – Mitucocha Camp

After breakfast, the trail climbs steadily to Cacanan Punta Pass (4,700 m), crossing the continental divide and revealing wide panoramic views of the Cordillera Huayhuash.
From the pass, descend into a scenic valley surrounded by glacial peaks until reaching Mitucocha Camp. The campsite offers outstanding views of Jirishanca and Ninashanca reflected in the surrounding highland landscape.
Day 3: Mitucocha – Carhuac Pass – Carhuacocha Camp

Today’s route ascends gradually toward Carhuac Pass (4,650 m), where hikers are rewarded with one of the most iconic panoramas of the circuit, including Yerupajá, Siula Grande, and Jirishanca.
The descent leads to the spectacular Lake Carhuacocha, considered one of the most beautiful campsites in the entire Huayhuash Circuit due to its turquoise waters and dramatic glacier backdrop.
Day 4: Carhuacocha – Huaraz

An early departure begins with a final short walk from camp before the return journey. Depending on logistics, the route may include a scenic descent and drive back through the Huayhuash access roads toward Huaraz.
This final day offers a last opportunity to appreciate the Andean landscapes before arriving in Huaraz in the afternoon, marking the end of the Huayhuash 4-day adventure.
